'Advantaged thinking represents a shift in the way we think about and respond to young people experiencing disadvantage and exclusion. It recognises all young people have a vital contribution to make to the social and economic life of our communities and society. To do so, all young people should have access to the opportunities and social networks that facilitate social and economic participation. Advantaged thinking acknowledges barriers for young people but focuses on the young person's innate skills and talents and investing in these talents appropriately.'
