“Towards Fairness” – Spectrum’s submission to the Multicultural Framework Review
Spectrum welcomes the release of the Australian Multicultural Framework Review. As an organisation that has for nearly 45 years striven to empower refugee and migrant communities across Melbourne, we were pleased to have made important contributions to the Framework Review. You can read a summary and download a copy of the Review here.
In our submission, Spectrum shared insights brought forward by the multicultural communities that we serve, and the professional experiences of our diverse workforce. Both of whom, every day, navigate the hopes and challenges of working towards a fairer multicultural Australia.
Our submission highlighted what our CEO Rebecca Power describes as our ‘unapologetic ambition’ for our communities – how a truly equitable, multicultural Australia could function to better the lives of all, and the vital role that diverse leadership plays in advancing this process. As you’ll see, leadership is a core theme of the Review – and we’re proud to already be championing the leaders of tomorrow through programs like RISE (for CARM women) and Pathways to Resilience (for young people).
Our submission also highlighted the positive forces that propel us towards equity, and those challenges that hold us back. At the core of our message is, as ever, the lived experiences of people of many cultures and backgrounds – the beating heart, families and individuals impacted by policies and narratives.
We invite you to explore our submission to this Framework, and consider our roadmap for a more harmonious and inclusive future.
