Spectrum’s Social Support Groups for seniors help older people from migrant backgrounds to continue living active, social and independent lives.
Each of our Social Support Groups gather weekly at community centres around Melbourne’s north, and we offer a range of stimulating activities in a warm and welcoming environment.
Our group members enjoy activities that are tailored to their needs, interests and cultural and linguistic backgrounds. These can include things like:
- Gentle exercise
- Holiday and cultural celebrations
- Visiting restaurants and cafes
- Basic English classes
- Information sessions on current affairs
- Learning digital technology skills for using an iPad or mobile phone
- Chess, crafting and colouring
- Games and quizzes
- Cooking together
- Gardening
- Bowling
- Beach days
- Group outings to museums, events and historical sites across Melbourne
Or just enjoying a cup of tea, a slice of cake or a delicious lunch, and conversation with friends!
Plus, Spectrum also provides transport to and from your home, so that you can travel in safety and comfort.
Additionally, each of our Spectrum Social Support Groups is supported by a native language speaker, helping you feel truly at home.
