Northern Federation of Ethnic Senior Citizens Clubs

Who we are

The Northern Federation of Ethnic Senior Citizens Clubs (The Federation) was formed in 1988 to help seniors from different cultures stay active, connected, and included in the community. We promote positive ageing and support services to be more culturally aware.

Federation members are the presidents of over 30 ethnic senior citizens clubs from the cities of Darebin, Whittlesea, Banyule, and Moreland.

The Federation is coordinated by Spectrum.

What we do

Club representatives meet every month to:

  • Share ideas and experiences.
  • Discuss common issues affecting older people.
  • Find solutions to improve wellbeing.
  • Help government and organisations understand the needs of multicultural seniors.

The Federation also offers:

  • activities such as forums, seminars, consultations and training.
  • advice on accessing grants.
  • resources and information on relevant activities and programs.

What we offer

The Federation supports senior clubs by providing:

  • Training, mentorship and information to help clubs grow.
  • Support with funding applications and meeting grant requirements.
  • Resources and updates on activities, programs, and services.
  • Facilitation of a one-stop opportunity for peak bodies and service providers to share their information and consult with diverse communities.
“By building a strong network of seniors clubs, the Federation empowers leaders to continue their work, have a voice and find meaningful outcomes.”
Nadereh Edwards, Federation Project Coordinator
