home based respite

Spectrum offers up to 4 hours of home-based or community-based respite to primary carers from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds and to carers from Australia’s indigenous population. The program delivers quality home based respite to those in need.

To be eligible, carers must be caring for

  • a frail older person aged 65 years and over (50 years and over for Australia’s indigenous population)
  • a person with dementia (also dementia with challenging behaviour)
  • someone with a terminal illness requiring palliative care.

Program participants must reside in the following local government areas to be eligible to access the service:

  • Northern region of City of Yarra
  • Darebin
  • Hume
  • Moreland
  • Banyule
  • Whittlesea
  • Nillumbik

All our workers are bi-lingual and bi-cultural, they are trained in Certificate III in Aged Care or Home And Community Care and have a current National Police Check.
