Spectrum supports the YES campaign

Spectrum CEO Rebecca Power at the Multicultural Voices for YES launch

Voice referendum 14 October 2023

Spectrum is proud to pledge its support of the YES campaign for the upcoming Voice to Parliament referendum.

The Uluru Statement from the Heart in 2017 put forward three pillars of action: Voice, Treaty and Truth. Spectrum supports the statement, and it firmly believes that a Voice to Parliament is a significant and empowering move to ensure Australia’s First Nations peoples influence decisions that impact them.

Last month, Spectrum CEO Rebecca Power attended the launch of “Victorian Multicultural Voices for YES” at Parliament House. The gathering was organised by the Ethnic Communities Council of Victoria (ECCV) and was joined by special guest Aunty Esme Bamblett, CEO of the Aboriginal Advancement League and member of the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria, alongside the Minister of Multicultural Affairs, Colin Brooks MP, and the Yes23 campaign.

“As an organisation that champions inclusion and belonging, supporting the Voice is essential,” said Rebecca. “We take our important role seriously in raising awareness and rallying support in solidarity with Indigenous peoples.”
